Mental Health Social Worker | Counsellor | Client Relations Officer
For Ajil Mathew George, mental health care begins long before a therapy session starts. It begins with the first conversation — when someone needs to feel heard, understood, and guided towards the right support.
A qualified Mental Health Social Worker with an MSW specialising in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, Ajil works at Mindmaris Counsellors Private Limited as a Counsellor and Client Relations Officer. His role places him at an important point in the client’s care journey, acting as a bridge between clients, psychologists, psychiatrists, and the wider mental health team.
He supports clients in understanding the care available to them, coordinates appointments and follow-ups, facilitates communication with professionals, assists with referrals, and helps maintain continuity throughout the therapeutic process. His approach combines professional structure with warmth, patience, confidentiality, and respectful communication.
A Strong Academic Foundation
Ajil is a Rank 1 holder from Mahatma Gandhi University and is UGC-NET qualified. Alongside his Master of Social Work, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree and postgraduate diplomas in Child Rights, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Group Counselling.
His academic background is complemented by professional exposure across diverse settings, including the District Child Protection Unit, Government of Kerala; Cochin Shipyard, Government of India; Local Self-Government Department, Government of Kerala; St. Martha’s Multi-Speciality Hospital, Bengaluru; and Sanjeevani Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre, Kottayam.
These experiences have shaped his understanding of mental health beyond the consulting room — including family systems, child protection, rehabilitation, community support, institutional care, and the social realities that influence psychological well-being.
His Role at Mindmaris
As a Client Relations Officer, Ajil helps make the mental health care process easier to navigate. From the initial interaction to ongoing follow-up, he works to ensure that clients remain connected with the appropriate professionals and receive coordinated support throughout their journey.
His work includes client engagement, psychosocial support, counselling, care coordination, follow-up assistance, psychoeducation, group facilitation, life-skills training, and mental health awareness initiatives.
He has a particular interest in working with children, adolescents, students, families, and individuals who may require additional psychosocial guidance alongside professional mental health care.
Beyond Individual Care
Ajil is also passionate about life-skills education, career guidance, student development, mental health literacy, and community-based interventions. He believes that psychological well-being can be strengthened not only through professional intervention, but also through awareness, education, healthy support systems, and practical skills for everyday life.
His academic research, “The Multidimensional Impact of International Youth Migration on Left-Behind Families in Kottayam District, Kerala, India,” reflects his interest in how migration, family relationships, social environments, and changing life circumstances influence emotional and psychosocial well-being.
At Mindmaris, Ajil brings together academic strength, psychiatric social-work knowledge, counselling skills, and client-care coordination with one clear purpose: helping people feel supported and connected to the right care when they need it.
His guiding belief:
“Every individual deserves to be heard, understood, and supported on their journey towards well-being.”
